This beautifully Carved Greenstone Mere would make an impressive Presentation Piece, Trophy, Souvenir of New Zealand or as an alternative to the Traditional 21st Birthday Key.
The Mere has a Lightly Polished Finish and measures approx 41cm Long by 12.5cm High (at highest points) and has a Woven Black Cord.
Mere Pounamu (or Patu Pounamu) were considered to be the most valuable greenstone items. They were the main symbol of chieftainship and were as valuable to Māori as precious stones were to Europeans. Traditionally, mere were used for stabbing and cutting, rather than delivering axe-like blows.

Awesome products guys. Those patu’s are “dangerous”, and the quality of the wooden stand and engraving is absolutely outstanding. No photos yet. My granddaughters live in Australia and I’m heading over there on 5 May returning on 14 May. Happy to send some through once I return.
